About me
Abdel Story
My Journey from Photography to Horses
My name is Abdel, and I’m from Essaouira, Morocco. I’m a photographer and a horse rider, and I created EssaouiraPortrait, where I organize horse riding holidays and photoshoots. But this wasn’t always my plan. Let me tell you my story.
How It All Started
I was doing a photoshoot one day with a tourist from the USA. It wasn’t with horses; it was just a normal shoot in the beautiful spots of Essaouira. After we finished, we sat down for breakfast, and we started talking about life and my city.
I noticed on her Instagram that she visits Essaouira a lot more than five times a year. So, I asked her, “Why do you come here so often?”
She smiled and said, “For horse riding.”
I was surprised. Horse riding? I never thought about it. So, I asked her, “What’s so special about horse riding here?”
She asked me back, “Have you ever ridden a horse in Essaouira?”
I laughed and said, “I’ve never been on a horse in my life.”
She smiled again and said, “Okay, tomorrow I will take you with me for a ride.”
My First Ride
The next morning, we went for the ride. Honestly, I can’t explain what I felt that day. It’s not something you can describe you have to feel it. Riding on the beach, with the wind in your face, the connection with the horse, the peace… It was something I never experienced before.
From that moment, my life changed. I fell in love with horses.
A New Chapter
After that ride, I couldn’t stop thinking about horses. I decided to learn everything I could about them and dedicate my life to this passion. Now, I have my own horses, and I work with others to give people the same experience I had.
Through EssaouiraPortrait, I combine my two passions: photography and horses. I want people to come to Essaouira, discover its beauty, and live their dreams. Whether it’s riding on the beach at sunrise or capturing special moments in a photoshoot, I’m here to make it happen.
My Goal
My goal is simple: I want people to discover my city and feel the magic of Essaouira. Horses changed my life, and now I want to share that feeling with others.
If you visit Essaouira, I’ll be here to guide you whether it’s through the lens of my camera or on the back of a horse. Let’s create memories together.
